Give the gifts of warmth, food and hope this holiday season.

For the first time last year, Spring Hill residents came together to support three valuable local charity efforts through the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund. Together, we raised enough money to pay 51 families' utility bills, give five children a backpack filled with food for an entire year and provide approximately 7,500 meals through the Spring Hill Food Pantry.

This year, we've set an ambitious goal - $10,000 - in hopes of providing even more help for these three excellent organizations.

THE SPRING HILL MULTI-SERVICE CENTER'S UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Our local food pantry, now located at 210 N. Webster, provides food each Thursday for residents in need. Hours for senior citizens are 10:30 a.m. to noon, and others may use the pantry from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The pantry is run by Life Spring Church.

The Spring Hill Multi-Service Center, one of six Johnson County outreach centers, provides financial assistance for those who struggle to pay their utility bills and qualify under certain income guidelines.

The BackSnack program provides a weekly backpack full of food for children at risk of hunger on the weekends. The program is run by Harvesters and administered locally by the Spring Hill Rotary Club.
